There are some weapons in Cantha (from the FPE) that derive from Japanese culture, such as the katana and shinobi blade, so why not include japanese-esque armor as well? (maybe a Samurai style "Bushido" armor for warriors and ninja style "Shinobi" armor for assassins). The lack of "hand to hand martial arts" in the game should be more of a blow towards Monks than Assassins...

Actrually, there's one very real reason that you'll never see ninja styles of armor... and I can't believe noone has realized this yet.
They don't show enough flesh.

Hmm... well, Anet could always take a gander at Tecmo's DoA series for some sexy female ninja gear ^.^ Kasumi always seems to show oodles of flesh ;p
Then again, there's always "LA BLUE GIRL"'s Miko Mido Hentai ninja girl extraordinarre ^.^

I still don't understand how assassin armor isn't already ninja-styled.

I can help with that.
The default assassin armor, called "Tenderfoot's guise" is the only armor close to being "ninja-styled". (nice costume btw, but the pants could be a bit more baggy, to hide the skinny chicken legs). However, I speculate that this armor will only be sufficient at low levels (ala pre-searing, kinda like Tyria's Ranger starter armor). I hope it will also be available as "End Game Armor", but until the release of Factions, I can only guess...
The rest of the End Game Armors for the assassin look like these:
This one seems to be the most "extreme" compared to the rest of the armors, but the theme is still the same. In my opinion, these armors scream out "Lets have rough sex" instead of "I'm a ninja"....
Then again, there are also "ninja" armor that nevertherless scream out "lets have sex", just not that rough...

Well ok, I certainly agree that the needly armor looks more silly than ninja-esque. I had the other armors in mind with my previous post.

I love it how he would stab himself in the stomach if he bent over, kicked, sprinted, or pretty much did anything. I had the same problem with necro armor actually...shoulder spikes would impale their brains if they actually lifted their arms, oh wait, they just did...
The gloves look sweet though....

C'mon, most of them aren't that bad.
Maybe a little heavy on the blades, but I still like 'em. And they seem fairly ninjaish. Or is it that you wouldn't be happy with anything besides black PJ's?

I think the masks are the only thing that hints at any reference to ninja.... The armors themselves don't quite do it for me...
Well this one doesnt look too bad...
The Infiltrator "Bondage lovers starter kit" armor seems to be the most normal looking armor out of all the rest...
Maybe its just the really tight pants that are getting to me...
You're right though... To me personally, I'd definitely much rather have simple baggy ninja gear like this one here---> over the current assassin armor... I'm sure alot of people don't share the same opinion, and thats ok.

It doesn't have to be really baggy like the one in the pic I posted... I was thinking more in the lines of something like how the Canthan Guards/Generals (the ones that look like Samurai, with the baggy pants) are.... Something simple like that... (BTW, I would LOVE to have my warrior wear Canthan Guard style armor with the helmet and baggy pants ^.^)
I'll try to post a pic of one once I get home from work ;p

Ok, pic update...
Here are two examples of Baggy gear that can be implemented to Assassin armor to prevent revealing their skinny chicken thighs ^.^
Canthan Guard (observe the Samurai-esque styling and baggy pants ^.^)
General Yurukaro from the Zaishen Elite Challenge (female version of Canthan Guard style armor, complete with Baggy PJ's)
Maybe a less armored (more cloth-like) armor can be implemented to the assassin class, keeping off course, the baggy pj's ^.^ Hopefully Anet can come through with something... maybe use something like this with the unseen as of yet assassin Collector armor sets?

I like what you're suggesting.
Looking at all those armors side-by-side like I posted them, they seem very... similar. Kind of unimaginative, really. There could definitely stand to be more variety.

I'd not hold your breath on the baggy pants. Maybe we'll get lucky and see some in a future chapter.

The belt on the second one looks pretty cool. I'll probably use those pants in an armor combo. Armor combos are the best solution thus so far just dye it black and it'll all match.

Hm hm...give it up Shinobi. Ye want an example of how Anet does clothing, take a look at the Tyrian 15k female Ranger's Druid's skirt. Thing's stiff as plate steel. And you want baggy, flowing Hollywood ninja clothes, pre-dyed black. Hm hm...sorry, but I just can't see that happening.
Besides. If Anet's really severing functionality from style, you can do your Tenderfoot's Guise with whatever bonuses you want, dye it black, and look all ninja-y. Me, I like the female Vanguard's (needle) armor, at least for chest and gloves. Vanguard's chest and gloves, Shrouded pants and boots. Works for me.

It's all very interesting in what the perception is for an assassin. However, I could only compare the armor to what the enviorment has agaisn't us in guildwars because of my limited knowledge of ninja/assassins. I would say that the "heaviness" or thickishly exotic type of armor is usefull agains't such distigustingly looking enemies like inflicted..... that even shadow stepping or tender foot armor would provide no defence agains't but a bloody skull on the ground.
